Vlkolinec is a unique village that provides an unforgettable journey and insight into the authentic village life to the past centuries.
- It is 700 metres about the sea level, in the heart of Slovakia´s Liptov region, 7 km from the town Ružomberok.
- It represents the region´s best-preserved and most complex urban unit of original folk architecture consisting of wooden houses and outbuildings, the wooden bell tower and mural buildings of the church and school.
- The historic character of the whole settlement has been preserved primarily due to its isolated location.
- Authenticity of form and design is apparent in the original architectural style that survives virtually unchanged.
This extraordinary and remarkable oasis of folk architecture was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1993.
